How often should my chimney be cleaned?


The frequencies shown below are for guidance only.
 
Smokeless fuel: At least once a year
Wood: Quarterly when in use
Bituminous coal: At least twice a year
Oil: Once a year
Gas: Once a year

Carbon monoxide poisoning and chimneys


Carbon monoxide is created from any fuel that burns and is extremely dangerous, it is a gas that has no colour or smell, and can be hazardous even at low-level exposure.
 
The side effects from low-level exposure can vary, however too much carbon monoxide can in fact kill you.
